Understand the advance.
Put the idea in motion.
Seven interactive experiments, grounded in recent research. Every example has a question you can test.

Movement with a returning signal.
Explore the idea of coupled agonist and antagonist muscles: one contracts as its partner lengthens.
Scrub one gait cycle and inspect the opposing muscle signals.
Switch between coupled and independent signals at the same gait phase.
Connect the muscle pair
The illustrative signals oppose one another across the cycle. The displayed angle is an independent explanatory gait trace.
The muscle traces and angle are invented explanatory signals. This is not a surgical model, gait controller or prediction for a person.
Inspect the demonstration rules
The first signal is a scaled sine wave. In coupled mode the second equals amplitude minus the first. In independent mode it is a shifted sine wave. The knee angle is a separate invented sine trace between 10° and 65°.
MIT reports an above-knee system combining an agonist–antagonist myoneural interface with bone-integrated electrodes. Two participants received the complete integrated system.
